Long-time Engineering Physics professor, Peter Mascher, has been honoured by the Electrochemical Society’s Dielectric Science and Technology Division with its Thomas D. Callinan Award.

Dave Novog, professor of nuclear engineering at McMaster University, said the modern nuclear industry has welcomed the private sector to the fray and that has “driven the industry to become more lean and more accountable to investors.”

With a focus on nuclear fuel chemistry, Piro’s research looks at fuel behaviour in nuclear reactors with the goal of enhancing fuel performance and maintaining safety in both conventional and emerging nuclear technologies, such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

Five Capstone project teams share their initial concepts and final iterations and describe how their projects are positioned to engineer a brighter future.
