New Faculty

Maryam ArameshAssistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, tenure-track
Before starting her new appointment as an Assistant Professor, Maryam Aramesh worked at the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI) as a postdoctoral fellow and Professional Education Development Manager. During her postdoc, she was involved in several research and industrial projects and mentored a large group of graduate students. Her research has resulted in the development of a patented dual-functioning lubricant and a novel post treatment technique for cutting tools. Aramesh received her PhD from Polytechnique Montreal in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. Concurrently with her PhD, she was also a visiting researcher at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

Adjunct Faculty Appointments

Sahar Kokaly, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing and Software
Kokaly is a Software Safety Engineer with General Motors.  She is involved with the McSCert/GM NSERC CRD on Safety & Model Management, where she is an expert.  She will help supervise Master’s and doctoral students and deliver seminars on GM’s safety and software engineering research.

Vera PantelicAdjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing and Software
Pantelic has been a Principal Research Engineer in the McMaster Centre for Software Certification, leading several large industrial projects, conducting research, supervising students, and providing technical leadership and project management.  Her main research interests include development and certification of safety-critical software systems, model-based development, and supervisory control of discrete event systems. She will be actively planning new projects, seeking funding opportunities from industry and government and writing grant proposals.

Reza Samavi
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Computing and Software
Samavi was an Assistant Professor (CLA) in the Department from 2014 until 2020.  With an adjunct appointment, he will continue to supervise his graduate students through to completion and collaborate with members of the department on security, privacy and machine learning.

Paul Galpin, Adjunct Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering
Galpin is currently a CFD consultant at ISimQ Ltd., and one of the main developers and development managers of the TASCflow and ANSYS CFX software. He is also a renowned expert in the development of commercial CFD software for over 30 years. In addition, he is a lecturer for graduate studies at the University of Waterloo and McMaster University.

Ahmed SadekAdjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering
Sadek is Team Leader, Advanced Machining, Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies Center (AMTC), National Research Council Canada (NRC). He is managing a research team of 15 members with a research and facility budget of $3M. His mandate includes creating new collaborations, and project consortia that involve Canadian and International academic and industrial partners.  His current research focus is in smart machining, hybrid additive manufacturing, and control of advanced machining processes.

Rakesh Sahu, Adjunct Lecturer, School of Biomedical Engineering
Sahu is a Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and has developed collaborations in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.  His research interests are in application of developing advanced functional nanomaterials for biosensing, energy storage devices, cell patterning and bioprinting.

Dinesh KumbhareAdjunct Associate Professor, School of Biomedical Engineering
Kumbhare is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto.  He will be collaborating with members of the School and may participate in workshops, symposiums or lectures.
