McMaster University welcomed more than 80 researchers and graduate students for the 2025 Control and Statistics Meeting, held on May 27 and 28. The annual event brought together leading minds in process systems engineering from across Ontario and Quebec to share research, exchange ideas and foster collaboration. 

Five exceptional students have been recognized with the 2025 President's Award of Excellence in Student Leadership for their impact on health, sustainability and student life at McMaster. Among them is Civil Engineering student Paris Liu, who is celebrated for her leadership in environmental initiatives on campus.

McMaster's research community came together at the Art of Research competition, showcasing over 65 captivating images, many proudly submitted by Engineering students. Batoul Hashemi from Engineering won the People's Choice Award for her photograph, highlighting the creative and human side of research.

The Department of Civil Engineering was proudly represented at the annual Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) conference, held in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the end of May, taking home seven awards.

McMaster Engineering proudly celebrates the achievements of its newest graduates as they cross the Convocation stage on June 17. Among them are 15 remarkable “grads to watch”, recognized by their professors and peers. Their accomplishments highlight the resilience and dedication that define McMaster Engineering.
