Accelerate your career path

The Engineering & Management program is a prestigious five-year degree that combines an undergraduate engineering degree with a strong foundation in business.

Through integrated coursework in organizational behaviour, finance, marketing, accounting and strategy, students graduate with a unique skill set that empowers them to lead, innovate and make strategic decisions in technical environments.

By the end of the program, students will be able to:

  • Solve complex engineering problems using technical expertise, creativity and systems thinking 
  • Apply core business principles to make informed, strategic decisions in engineering and organizational contexts 
  • Lead and manage high-performing teams, demonstrating strong collaboration, communication and project management skills 
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences through professional reports, presentations and digital tools 
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities, developing solutions and delivering compelling proposals in real-world settings

Admissionrequirements

Engineering 1 students may apply to the program near the end of their first year.

This is a highly competitive program and entrance is based on your cumulative average; only 150 students are admitted each year.

To be considered for entry into the program, Engineering 1 students must complete Economics 1B03 – Microeconomics as a complementary studies elective and achieve a minimum grade of 5.0 (63%).

Please note that Computer Science, iBioMed, and Bachelor of Technology students are not eligible to apply for the program.

Accelerated MBA in 8 months

Our graduates are eligible to apply to an Accelerated MBA program once completing their engineering undergrad.

Eligible schools include McMaster University, Athabasca University and Thompson Rivers University.

During their 5-year undergraduate program, students will have already learned the core business skills and concepts taught in the first year of a typical MBA.

With an accelerated MBA, you can enhance your business knowledge and skills and gain a competitive edge in the job market.

The McMaster Engineering & Management Society (MEMS) is led by a dynamic executive team comprising passionate students dedicated to representing and advocating for their peers in the Engineering & Management program.

This enthusiastic group plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth of professional skills among Engineering and Management students, serving as valuable liaisons connecting the student body with faculty members and esteemed alumni.

MEMS goes beyond the ordinary by organizing a myriad of captivating events and activities tailored specifically for students in the Engineering & Management program. These events are meticulously crafted around themes such as professional development, networking, career & skill enhancement, and fostering meaningful connections.
