Working as a senior advanced electrical engineer with Honeywell in Mississauga, Ankita Choudhary provides support across many departments in the organization.
She helps engineering, production, and service teams resolve issues with product design, modifications, upgrades, supplier investigations, and obsolescence.
“At Honeywell, I get a variety of tasks and responsibilities that teach me new things and make me feel engaged and fulfilled,” says Choudhary.
A 2013 graduate of the Master of Engineering Design program, Choudhary added the degree to her resume to build on an electronics and telecommunications engineering degree she earned in India.
“I came to Canada in 2012 as an international student,” she says. “McMaster gave me the confidence to settle down in Canada and make this my new home.”
She launched her career working in medical device product design before moving to Honeywell.
“I’ve always wanted to help people and my career helps me do that,” she says. “Whether working in a medical device manufacturing company or now working in the aerospace industry, I feel I am giving back something to society by indirectly helping people.”
She says that an internship through her McMaster studies helped her understand the workings of Canadian industry, while group work projects gave her the opportunity to establish friendships.
Choudhary urges young people to believe in themselves and look for opportunities to learn and develop skills.
