Our M-Factor competition is back with big prizes on the line. Keep reading to learn how you can be part of this rewarding opportunity happening January 2027.
What is the M-Factor?
The M-Factor is a multi-challenge competition designed to enhance your management skills through hands-on, experiential learning.
Over the course of three days, you’ll participate in three to four, team-based challenges that will push you to think critically, work collaboratively and demonstrate leadership — all while having a good time with your peers in Mac Eng.
Here’s how it works
The first-place winner will now take home an impressive cash prize of $3,000, with $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third.
Here’s what last year’s first-place winner, Jasmine Smith, had to say:
“I absolutely gained confidence from my experience at M-factor. I almost didn’t apply for M factor because of how much I doubted my video, and my leadership skills. I am incredibly grateful that I didn’t follow that doubt. With each challenge I learned more about my ability to lead, listen and communicate.
I met some incredible people throughout this experience as well. Every contestant I spoke to and worked with were intelligent, mature, innovative, and excellent leaders. Despite the fact that we were all competitors, everyone was supportive and kind. We all wanted to see each other succeed. The community of contestants made the competition easy to enjoy and have fun in”

From Friday, January 22, to Sunday, January 24, 2027 the W Booth School, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, will be hosting the M-Factor Competition right here on campus!
