Ways to engage with us

Collaborate with a team of final-year, interdisciplinary biomedical engineering students on year-long design projects that tackle real-world challenges, with deliverables including prototypes, feasibility studies and technical reports.

Partner with upper-year students trained in biomedical innovation as they identify unmet clinical needs through observation and engagement. Guide them in shaping early-stage solutions—from devices to digital tools—while contributing to mentorship, innovation and improved patient care.

Support a student in a year-long thesis project that can be research-focused or venture-driven. This is a flexible pathway for academic researchers, entrepreneurs and clinicians interested in mentoring a student through a deeper exploration of a problem or solution.

Supervise and mentor a student in a research project course that spans one or two terms.  Research project courses give students the opportunity to collaborate with a research supervisor to carry out experiments, research, and/or theoretical investigations.

More engagement opportunities

The iBioMed program has several other ways to get involved, such as:

  • Supervising a research project course (one term or two terms)
  • Guest lecturing
  • Leading a workshop
  • Supervising a co-op student (please connect with the Centre for Career Growth and Experience team for more details)
  • Philanthropy through support of our students and their innovations
  • Sponsoring a hackathon
  • Joining an advisory group
