MEng – Engineering Design course selection form

Instructions for completing this form:

1. For the following program requirements, please select all courses that you are intending to take for your program, including courses that you have not yet enrolled in on Mosaic.
2. At the end of the course selection, you should have selected courses adding up to 30 units.
3. Once you select your desired course, the terms that the selected course is projected to be available will appear under the heading “Term to be taken”.
• If you are unsure about courses in the future, the current course timetable can be used as a guide for when each course will be offered in the academic year.
  Please note: we cannot guarantee that a course will be offered each year. Please estimate the term that you will be taking that course.
4. Complete the form as though you will not be taking co-op.
   • Co-ops are an optional part of the program and not guaranteed, therefore please do not take this into consideration when selecting your courses for this form.

Important: There are no breaks in the programs. Please enroll in every term.

MED students have 5 required courses for their programs, that cannot be switched or modified.

Some courses must be taken in a specific order in your program.

1. SEP 760 must be taken before SEP 761.
   • It is not possible to take the two courses at the same time. SEP 761 builds on the material from SEP 760, and therefore these courses cannot be taken out of order.
   • If you take SEP 760 in the Winter term, please be aware that you will not be able to take SEP 761 until the following Winter term.


2. SEP 761 may be taken at the same time as SEP 700, part I.

The following courses are required for all students in the MED program:

All students are required to take 1 Cross-Disciplinary Course, chosen from the following.

If you wish to take more than cross-disciplinary course, only the first one will be counted towards your cross-disciplinary requirement. Any others can be listed under Focus Electives. Any extra cross-disciplinary courses must receive Program Lead approval first.

MED Students are required to take 4 Technical Elective Courses.

1. MED students may take more than one cross-disciplinary course. The first cross-disciplinary course taken will count as the cross-disciplinary requirement; any additional cross-disciplinary courses will count towards the technical elective requirement


2. Additional courses that can be taken as electives can also be found in your Course Registration Document.
   These additional courses require Program Lead approval as a form may need to be submitted to SGS.


3. Other courses across campus may be taken with Program Lead Approval


4. Non-STEM courses will not be approved.

Co-op is an optional part of the program. It is not mandatory.

Units associated with the Co-op “courses” do not count towards your 30-unit program requirements.

Please note the following:

1. Co-op may only be done after the project is completed. The project is considered complete when both SEP 700 part I and part II are completed.


2. You must hold at least one course back to complete after the co-op. You must return to your studies for one term after co-op as a student only. You cannot complete your studies and your co-op at the same time.
