Mentorship is an excellent way to give back to students and support their academic and professional success. It is also a great way to get connected with highly-motivated groups of students. From mentoring individual students through one-on-one sessions, to volunteering your time as judges or mentors for hackathons and other events, there are many ways to get involved. Sponsorship Our students benefit from company sponsorship to succeed academically, deliver high-impact projects annually, and get connected to top employers and industries.

Campus-Wide Fall Campus Fair Event Size: 2000 | September 19, 2024 | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | McMaster University The Campus Career Fair is one of the largest career events on McMaster University’s campus. This is your opportunity to connect with McMaster University students across all faculties. Students will be actively seeking employment for full-time, co-op, part-time and internship positions. Connect to Careers – Career Fair Event Size: 2000 | March 4th 2025 | Hamilton Convention Centre, Hamilton Connect to Careers is the best way to find and recruit new talent — presented in partnership by McMaster University; Mohawk College; Redeemer University; Workforce Planning Hamilton; and Economic Development, City of Hamilton.

Event Size: 100-300 | Fall 2024/Winter 2025 | Evenings Our respective engineering student societies put on a collaborative networking event each year to connect students with employers. Event Size: 30-120 | Fall 2024/Winter 2025 | Day For two hours, set up a booth in the engineering building lobby. Have former co-op students, HR staff and managers available to answer students’ questions about your company. Our team will contact you to discuss potential dates and format of the event.

ONWiE Summit 2024 Event Size: 150-300 | Mid November  2024 | Virtual The Summit of the Ontario Network of Women in Engineering will be hosted virtually in mid November 2024. Employers can participate in the conference through attending, sponsoring and presenting on a variety of topics such as recruitment, co-op and internship programs, hiring for diversity, and community outreach initiatives. Event Size: 400 | Winter 2025 | 5:30pm – 9:00pm  Over the years, McMaster Engineering has hosted an alumni/student mentorship evening, where distinguished alumni reconnect with McMaster engineering students. Alumni will share their experiences about academics, study skills, day-to-day issues, career planning, networking and professional development. They were students once too; this is a great way to give back to the McMaster engineering community and support student success.

Event Size: 150 | Saturday, November 9, 2024| 9:00am – 5:00pm Held annually since 2008, The Hunt is a professional development event hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers McMaster Chapter. The event provides the necessary resources for students to succeed in the professional working world, while also promoting diversity within the industry. We are looking for employers to critique cover letters and resumes, and pass on their wisdom in the form of mock interviews. In addition, there will be a small career fair to allow employers to network with top engineering, computer science and technology talent.

Event Size: 200 | Monday, October 7, 2024 | 5:00pm – 8:00pm | Cost for this event is yet to be determined | Meet and network with young women in engineering. This is not only an opportunity to help in the professional development of young women engineers, but also a great recruitment event for students seeking co-op or full-time employment. Bring your best and brightest McMaster Engineering Alumni along to provide mentorship to young women engineers.

Event Size: 150 | Sat & Sun, January 18 & 19, 2025 | The CAD Designathon hosted by McMaster Design League is back again this year! Join us for a weekend of problem-solving and opportunities to learn more about the CAD industry! In teams of up to 4, students will be applying technical CAD skills to solve meaningful problems and then present ideas to a panel of judges. Students will also have the chance to grow their portfolio, network with sponsors, and hear from industry speakers, all while creating an exciting new project! Join us at McMaster Design League’s 2022 UI/UX Designathon, which offers panels, workshops, mentorship, and networking with students and industry sponsors. Each year, we enable over 800 students across North America, working hard over 36 hours, to bring their big ideas to life. Sat & Sun, November 16 & 17, 2024| The McMaster Engineering Competition goes beyond a typical design competition to offer undergraduate students a variety of competition categories requiring them to exercise critical thinking, creative design, collaboration and communication skills in novel ways. This means there is something for everyone and all aspects of being an excellent, well rounded engineer are sharpened as they design and discuss practical solutions to real problems. Participants compete in teams of 2 or 4 in 1 of 9 categories; Jr. Design, Sr. Design, Re-engineering, Consulting, Programing, Bio-engineering, Innovative Design, Parliamentary Debate, and Communications. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges, then the top achievers proceed to the 45-year-old renowned Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC).

Thurs Jan 23 to Sun Jan 26, 2025| The Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) is an annual student-run, three-day competition that brings together more than 300 of the province’s brightest students. Competitors demonstrate their engineering skills in a competitive environment, while also developing meaningful relationships with their peers. Over the past 45 years, the competition has grown to become one of the largest and highly anticipated engineering competitions in Canada.

Event size: 30 – 60| Fall 2024/Winter 2025| Timing Flexible A Technical Interview Workshop for students interested in co-op/careers in software development; covering what to expect in the coding/technical interview, how to prepare for a coding/technical interview, and how to be successful.

Event Size: 800-1000 | April 2024 | Day Each year, the Faculty of Engineering puts on a showcase of final year engineering student capstone projects. This showcase is a great way to connect with students who are close to graduation and may be seeking full-time employment.
