Average Event Size: 120 | Timing: Fall 2026 | Held annually since 2008, The Hunt is a professional development event hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers McMaster Chapter. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with and help shape the next generation of talent while reinforcing your organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will engage directly with students by providing feedback on resumes and cover letters, conducting mock interviews, and sharing your professional insights. Additionally, the career fair portion will include networking with high-potential engineering, computer science, and technology students.

McMaster Design League (MDL) UI/UX Designathon
Sat & Sun, Fall | Average Event Size: 400 Timing: Winter 2027 | This is not a traditional recruiting event – it’s an opportunity to engage with top talent in a meaningful, hands-on way. The MDL CAD Designathon allows you to go beyond resumes by evaluating students in action through custom, real-world challenges aligned with your organization’s focus. Across an immersive weekend, you’ll connect with over 300 highly motivated students as they design, prototype, and problem-solve in real time. With access to rapid prototyping tools, skill-building workshops, and a dedicated sponsor fair, you’ll gain unparalleled insight into candidates’ technical abilities, creativity, and teamwork; while building your brand and identifying exceptional talent in mechanical and civil engineering. a typical design competition to offer undergraduate students a variety of competition categories requiring them to exercise critical thinking, creative design, collaboration and communication skills in novel ways. This means there is something for everyone and all aspects of being an excellent, well rounded engineer are sharpened as they design and discuss practical solutions to real problems. Participants compete in teams of 2 or 4 in 1 of 9 categories; Jr. Design, Sr. Design, Re-engineering, Consulting, Programing, Bio-engineering, Innovative Design, Parliamentary Debate, and Communications. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges, then the top achievers proceed to the 45-year-old renowned Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC).

Google Developers Student Chapter Mac-a-thon
Timing: Winter 2027 | Originally started to encourage students to participate in the Google Solutions Challenge, Mac-a-Thon has grown to become our annual GDG McMaster event. Hackers play around with Google technologies and experiment with the many ideas in their heads. Most importantly, it gives them a chance to put their skills into practice to make something new. It is a weekend full of creativity, collaboration and a lot of fun stuff!

Timing: Summer 2027 | This event led by the Engineering Graduate Society aims to provide graduate students – both M.Eng and thesis-based degrees – an opportunity to interact with employers to plan their next career goals.
