Access the CEDT

Step 1: Create an account

1. Log in or create an account
   • If you are a McMaster University employee or student, click the blue SSO button to sign in.
   • If you are external, create a new Infinity X account.
     
2. First-time McMaster users:
   • Select your Principal Investigator (PI) and request access to their lab.
     
3. Request access to CEDT
   • Once logged in request access to CEDT.
     
4. Sign up for CEDT Intro training
   • Contact CEDT staff for CEDT intro training.

Step 2: Complete and upload safety training forms

After completing CEDT Intro training, you will be granted access to Infinity X.

1. Upload your MOSAIC training summary
   • Go to My Profile and then Additional Details in Infinity X.
   • Upload a screenshot of your MOSAIC training summary showing all required modules.
     
2. Complete required CEDT Research Security and Health-Safety forms
   • CEDT Research Security Attestation Form: Fill out, sign and submit
   • CEDT Health and Safety Form: Fill out and submit

Required health and safety training modules:

WHMIS 2015, CEDT Intro, SAFE, Laser Safety, Chemical Handling and Spills, Basic Electricity, Gas Cylinder Training, HF

Step 3: Submit training request form

You must complete all required health and safety training before requesting instrument training. After your all-required forms have been submitted, you can submit an instrument training request.

1. Go to Request Forms and then CEDT Instrument Training Form in Infinity X.
2. Select the instrument you want to get training.
3. Complete the required chart fields under Account Type – Research (ask your PI for details):
   • PC Business Unit: RFMAC (Science/Engineering) or RFHSC (Health Sciences)
   • Project Number: Select from drop-down (provided by PI)
   • Account: User Fees (Fund, Department, Percentage auto-populates)
4. Submit the form.
5. Set your default billing codes in My Profile and then My Billing Codes to simplify future bookings.
