  • Fiber Optic Scintillator for Gamma Spectroscopy

    We are using fiber optic cable to remotely sense different gamma radiation energies in the McMaster Nuclear Reactor isotope production pipeline to decrease the amount of waste product produced. Team Members: Benjamin Price, Alexander Gain, Brynmor Dayes.

  • Photonic's Universal Link for Shielding and Efficiency

    Automated probing station to perform accurate and precise testing on photonic integrated chips. The device will block out frequencies from the 7-13 GHz range. Team Members: Elena Jolovic, Greg Thomas, Clay Vrenjak.

  • Grover, the In-Situ Wildfire Detector

    An in-ground device that uses data from a combination of sensors to detect wildfires in their early stages. Team Members: Nicole Rodriguez, Mariel Serra, Arielle Ainabe.

  • NucSurve, Automated Gantry-Mounted Gamma Detection for Nuclear Waste Bin Surveying System

    Our partner-specific automated nuclear surveying system uses motor-driven gamma detectors on a gantry to scan nuclear waste bins and generate a radiation heat-map. Team Members: Khalil Ghazal, Karamvir Gill.

  • Small Modular Greenhouse

    An automated, outdoor greenhouse unit which recycles heat and electricity from homes and power plants to allow Native Americans to grow fresh produce at home to combat food insecurity. Team Members: Asad Irfan, Agasthya Rana, Christopher Madejcyk.

  • MEDM

  • Autonomous Ice Resurfacer

    An autonomous ice resurfacer meant for community rinks. This device will improve ice quality for skaters and make it easier for communities to maintain their rinks. Team Members: Melina Ashali, Evan Jonker, Mohamed Amine Hassine.

  • Autonomous Seed Planter

    A robot that can autonomously plant tree seeds to contribute to the effort against global warming and reforestation due to wildfires. Team Members: Justin Almonte, Anthony Almonte.

  • PC Motion Control Mouse

    A PC mouse controller powered by an IR camera and four IR LEDs to sense the motion of the controller and thus move the mouse. Team Members: Chengqian Liao, Jiayang Chen.

  • Sun Tracking Device for Plant Growth in Low Light Environments

    Array of solar tracking spherical mirrors that is used to intensify light to optimal levels for plant growth. Team Members: Zoe Botetzayas, Shayaan Siddiqui, Sophie Zhang.

  • Electromechanical Gesture Recognition Glove

    The Gesture Recognition Glove is an innovative wearable technology designed to interpret American Sign Language (ASL) gestures in real-time. Team Members: Manan Kharwar, Zhili Huang, Momen Ibrahim.

  • Autonomous Low-Level Nuclear Waste Scanner

    Scans every surface of an object affected by nuclear waste to determine which articles can be put into material release. Team Members: Sophie Bierer, Julia Andic, Jenn Ward.

  • Automated Nuts and Bolts Sorter

    Using imaging to identify nuts and bolts, and then sorting them into appropriate containers. Team Members: Omar Nassar, Michael Rofail, Rohan Bhat.

  • Well-Suited Storage

    Mechanical battery using gravitational potential to store electricity in a weight, to be charged and discharged down a well. Team Members: Mieke Lek, Dina Elhanan, Kenzie Lewis.

  • Handheld Digital Musical Instrument

    A device that creates musical notes with the movement of a user's hand. Team Members: Spencer Bandiera, Archit Dubey, Abduljawad Kourabi.

  • Electrically Controlled Tinting Glasses

    Glasses with lenses made of two polarizing films with a liquid screen between them. An electrical circuit is connected to the screens to apply a voltage, thus changing the dimming of the lenses. Team Members: Jack Rynard, Ranbir Uppal, Andrew Masala.

  • Flux Vault – The Bench Top Helmholtz Cage

    Flux Vault addresses the market need for a modular, powerful, and precise Helmholtz Cage for the validation of small spacecrafts. Team Members: Aidan Forsyth, Elijah Menna, Kosta Gianicos.

  • HookSmart

    HookSmart is a smart crochet hook with integrated sensors that allows it to detect the type and number of crochet stitches completed. Team Members: Lauren Sabatini, Iyah Alideeb, Megan Connelly.

  • Supersense
