  • Boost Rehabilitation Centre for Living & Learning

    Boost focuses on sheltering and providing social services for those in need. Team Members: John McMurtrie, Joshua Selway, Joanne Jackson, Tarek Biddah, Domenico Carbone, Hala Labidi.

  • Parkdale Place

    Parkdale Place located in the city of Hamilton is a proposed community hub designed to engage the community to participate in tackling the issue of food scarcity in the local area. Team Members: Amir El-Ghazzaoui, Michael Li, Taia Mussari, Hani Saymeh, Audrey Sheridan, Marina Wu.

  • Family Oriented Condos in Hamilton

    This project by the HBC Project Team takes a proposed development close to the Hamilton bay area and reconsiders to create a 10-storey family-friendly and environmentally conscious development in the continually growing City of Hamilton. Team Members: Zhi Li, Hayley Pridham, Aliyaan Naeem, Ahmed El Sayed, Verrnon Jeyarajah, Haibin Du.

  • Downtown Hamilton Community Centre

    This project by WildHub Designs has the intent of decreasing the rates of depression and anxiety in downtown Hamilton by creating a community centre with adjoining greenspace. This project for the City of Hamilton will include a structural design for the community center, abundant greenspace, community garden and water management systems through bioswales and dryponds.   • Hamilton Northeast Senior Community

    Considering Ontario’s aging population, along with an increased life expectancy, the Hamilton Northeast Senior Community Project can help the government solve the related problems. A Long-Term care home that will be integrated residential, medical, recreational, and commercial. In this way, it will help all seniors get together and enjoy life with perfect medical care. In our plan, the care home will contain two apartment sections and one clubhouse section. Team Members: Mao Mao, Tianyu Liu, Lihang Xy, Eric Wang, Linxi Bai, Yifei Ye.

  • 1218 Main St W

    This building addresses the issues of accommodation and meal facilities at McMaster University. The comprehensive approach includes site selection, innovative building design, and the integration of universal design principles to provide a solution that meets the diverse needs of the students. Team Members: Zhengguan Tao, Peiwen Ye, Lingyue Song, Ziming Yan, Wilian Anlun Li Yang, Yixuan Yang.

  • Horizon Community Centre

    Horizon Community Centre project is seeking to develop a community centre in downtown Hamilton to address growing population and limited recreational facilities in the area. This development includes multiple recreational courts, a weight room, classrooms, multi-purpose studios, kitchen, day care facility, outdoor soccer field, and a playground as well as a rooftop garden, solar paneled roof and a blue roof. Team Members: Jaedon Sonnenberg, Mihir Shah, Lucas Hildebrandt, Andrew Deboer, Rory Chiovitti, Alexander Meehan.

  • 200 Cannon Street West

    This project by RAAMLE Consulting seeks to address the urgent problem of both homelessness and affordable housing within the city of Hamilton and will rejuvenate the abandoned downtown location of Sir John A. Macdonald High School. The proposed high-rise condominium will be 13 stories and contain over 300 residential units while having commercial, amenity, and homeless shelter space on the lower levels providing much-needed relief to the city.   • Hamilton Social Housing Development

    This project is designed to help address the issue of homelessness in the city of Hamilton, an 8-story housing development is proposed in Hamilton's West Harbor neighborhood. The ground floor will be used for commercial space and supportive care and the second through eighth floors will be used for housing with a mixture of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio-style apartments. Team Members: Shira Tankel, Noah Campbell Mills, Jessica Fajta, Kelvin Li, Evelyn Shrimpton, Hrithik Patel.

  • The Urbanization of Villiers Island

    The Urbanization of Villiers Island project proposes to bring a Formula 1 Racetrack to Toronto's City Centre, with plans to construct a permanent recreational building for viewing and social events as well as a garage structure. This project will also focus on constructing a race track that will function as roads in the area in the off season, and place emphasis on sustainability, durability and affordability. Team Members: Azan Ali, Carol Maximous, Deonne Pal, Meray Sargeos, Ravi Kainth, Thashmini Suthakaran.

  • Urban SkiFarm (USF)

    The vertical farming building will supply the local community of Vaughan with fresh produce all year round. The objective of the USF is to reduce the amount of imported crops and replace them with domestically grown fruits and vegetables so the carbon emission on transportation can be significantly reduced. Team Members: Kiara Chamberlain, Sarah Turner, Abdullah Al-Rubaye, David Fields, Jerry Chan.

  • Library and Living Arts Centre

    Having access to knowledge and education is one of the most critical parts of every community. Unfortunately, many residents in the center of Markham area do not have close access to a library facility. By considering and understanding this deficiency, LAPAC Group is proposing the construction of a state-of-the-art library that will serve as a beacon of learning, a place for community engagement, and a catalyst for the growth of each person.   • Vaughan Rapid Transit

    Building a suspended light rail train system running around Vaughan. Team Members: Marut Rupal, Rahul Dixit, Arthes Matheeswaran, Yaathaven Sathananthan, Wenyang Ma.

  • North York Haven and Medical Clinic

    The AIMKare Haven and Medical Clinic is an integrated facility that provides both comprehensive medical care and shelter services. As the healthcare and shelter systems in Canada are struggling to provide equitable and efficient care, this project provides a solution that would improve access to healthcare services and alleviate strain on shelters. Team Members: Qiraat Asim, Madison Iantomasi, Zainab Ibrahim, Dayo Kehinde, Olivia Kielb, Jenna Mohamed.

  • Hanz Carl Recreation Centre

    The Hanz Carl Recreation Centre project aims to plan and design a state-of-the-art recreational facility to serve the downtown area of City Hamilton. The center is targeted towards the youth, to provide a wide array of amenities and services that will lead to their personal and professional growth and development. Team Members: Amar Fedlu, Dipo Arowona, Felix Mathew, Emerson Suarez, Michael Vo.

  • The Great Lakes International Circuit

    The Great Lakes International Circuit is a proposed raceway to be built in the township of Lake Erie, in the Niagara Region, with the goals to improve the declining economy and entertainment industry in the area. It features a main building with a visitors centre, garage and paddock area, grandstands with concession and other facilities, a parking and transportation hub, all to accommodate a multi-use racetrack that aims to host international motor races, including Formula 1. Team Members: Mack Wallhouse, Jack Ducheck, Natalie Cameron, Kyle Irwin, Justin Wiseman.

  • Vertical Village

    Vertical Village, a proposed high-rise building in downtown Mississauga, aims to integrate alternating farm and residential levels, prioritizing sustainability and self-sufficiency. The innovative design includes features such as vertical farming, fiber optic lighting, solar panels, and rainwater collection to enhance production capacity and minimize environmental impact. Team Members: Celine Azar, Yasmin Hassan, Shannen Halim, Luke Elmes, Karthik Krishnan, Ahmed Ebrahim.

  • South Cambridge Wellness Centre and Library

    The South Cambridge Wellness Centre and Library is an exceptional multi-purpose building for the growing communities in southern Cambridge, featuring a 2-floor public library offering extensive academic and creative services, community rooms, a spacious double gymnasium, saltwater leisure and lane pools, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and a community garden and greenhouse. Team Members: Ajay Joshi, Omar Jibrini, Roshana Khawaja, Roshan Ty, Esther Zandberg, Maya Carducci.

  • Milton Heights

    Milton Heights Community Residential Condominium includes Daycare and Retail Facilities, which integrates various highly-demanded services to residences in one place. It is an 8-story mixed-use condominium located in Milton, ON, featuring a daycare and multiple retail facilities on its first floor. The centre addresses the shortage of housing and daycare space, while centralizing vital services to serve new and growing families within the community. The building also includes underground parking, beautiful open-space areas to provide a convenient, comfortable, and welcoming living experience while design initiatives—such as a greywater system and low-impact development technologies—promote the idea of a sustainable future. In addition, the design also includesa green roof to ensure the green areas are maximized, as well as to provide a welcoming and aesthetic look to the building. Milton heights tackles the housing issue by putting necessary services (like food and daycare) in a close distance to the family living space.   • Multi-Purpose Cultural Heritage and Medical (CHAM) Centre

    The proposed plan is to design a multi-purpose cultural centre for the residents of Beausoleil First Nation on Christian Island. The building will have two floors. The first floor will be where the medical clinic and pharmacy are located, as well as spaces and rooms for council meetings, events, gatherings, and classes. In the northeast corner of the first floor, an auditorium will be located for events and performances. The second floor will have a large office space and smaller rooms for meetings and events. The ample indoor space can be used as an emergency shelter if there is a disaster. The building will ideally serve as one of the main central cornerstones of the island and bolster the community in many aspects.   • St. Catharines Sports and Community Centre

    The St. Catharines Sports and Community Centre is a project undertaken by six students from the McMaster Civil Engineering Department, Sam Richardson, Claire Benoit, Emily Allen, Dua Nezami, Justin May, and Luka Peso, forming Cross Brace Inc. The company aims to develop a new indoor Sports and Community Centre for the St. Catharines community. The nearest indoor soccer field to the neighbourhood is a 20 to 30-minute drive away in Welland or Niagara Falls. With a population almost triple that of Welland, the St. Catharines community deserves convenient access to a soccer facility year-round. The indoor soccer field will be the main attraction to the area; however, the structure will also consist of a 400m running track supported above the field. In addition to providing new and improved athletic facilities to the community, Cross Brace believes that it is important to ensure that it is sustainable, accessible, and will be well-used in the community. Therefore, the facility will also include commercial spaces for lease, a restaurant, and studio spaces, all for community use. The walkability of communities is something that the group believes is very important for building healthy communities, and this complements the core purpose of an athletic facility. This project has outlined the architectural layout, design of parking lot, structural elements, foundation, building science, and sustainability aspect, as well as an overall cost estimate.   • Community Centre Capstone Project

    The West London area is in need of a community centre that serves the growing population of London by providing residents with recreational facilities and services. The objective of this project is to create a community centre that will help facilitate civic engagement and enhance the general quality of life of the community, following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This report will detail plans to bring this vision to life while ensuring safety, sustainability, and innovation are prioritised.   • JMPD Warehouse

    JMPD Consulting recognized a need for warehouse storage near the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. Three locations were considered; however, 9196 Dickenson Road West housed the best property while in close proximity to the airport for easy transportation of goods. The warehouse will be primarily used to store and sort merchandise for small to medium sized e-commerce businesses. Size, layout, constructability, topography, and environmental assessment were discussed for the selection of the location. A layout was proposed based on the requirements of the Ontario Building Code and through the judgement of JMPD Consultants. The 120,000 sq-ft warehouse features a main floor with ample storage space and a small portion for administrative offices and employee lounge areas.   • Derry Green Collaboration Center

    The Derry Green Corporate Business Park Prestige Site Project was chosen to be located at the corner of Derry Road West to the north, and James Snow Parkway South to the west in the northeast of the city of Milton. This location was chosen as it is located at the gateway entrance to the Business Park on a prestige zoning area where the 5 storey multi use building has the ability to set the standard for future design in the area.   • Ancaster Shopping Mall Project

    This project designed a 3-storey shopping center. The first floor is an open parking lot, and the rest two will be used as shopping areas. The project is located at the cross of Alexander Graham Bell Parkway and Highway 6. in the Ancaster region in Hamilton. The building itself is an L- shaped structure with a dimension of 75*80 plus 150*100-meter squares. The overall floor space is expected to be around 12000-meter squares considering related sidewalks and paths. This project involves many sustainability aspects from environmental, economic and social perspectives. It includes a green roof, use of double skin facades, modular construction and more.
