Co-op for graduate students

Gain engineering work experience

Master’s and PhD students may complete 4 to 12 months of co-op experience in various types of organizations, including corporations, non-profit organizations, government agencies, startups and research institutions.

Students will engage in co-op job search 4-6 months in advance of the term that has been approved for work.

Students can work a maximum of 12 months. If they do not secure a job during their approved work term(s), they may submit an amended permission form to access jobs posted for future work terms

Enrol in the co-op program

At the beginning of the fall or winter academic terms, make it a priority to attend one of the interactive Graduate Co-op Information Sessions.

These are scheduled on the OSCARplus event calendar or in select cases, during your department orientation session.

These sessions are designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the graduate co-op option.

Once you’ve gained this insight, follow these steps to enrol in ENGINEER 701:

All students who are interested in Co-op must register for ENGINEER 701 following these steps:

1. Fully complete and submit the survey at https://forms.office.com/r/GncaKuRp7h
2. Enrol in ENGINEER 701 (fall) through MOSAIC (search ENGINEER if you cannot find the course)

W Booth students DO NOT need to submit a supervisor permission form.

Class begins on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 9:00am – reminder, attendance is mandatory for all 9 weeks of the course in order to receive a passing grade and access to the engineering co-op job board.

The course will open on Avenue to Learn on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 for you to review, and each weekly Zoom link will be added to the respective weekly content module.

All students who are interested in Co-op must register for ENGINEER 701 following these steps:

3. Complete the Graduate Supervisor Permission Form and submit to your Program Administrator.
