Overview

Dr. Patrick Hale is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology (SEPT) at McMaster University. He joined the faculty full-time after teaching as a sessional instructor since 2013. During that time, he taught undergraduate and graduate engineering courses primarily in computer-aided design, manufacturing engineering, rapid prototyping, and engineering design while simultaneously building a career in advanced manufacturing.

Before joining McMaster full-time, Dr. Hale worked in the metal additive manufacturing sector as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer. His work focused on developing manufacturing strategies for high-precision aerospace and space components. His industry experience includes manufacturing process optimization, CAD/CAM programming, CNC machining, fixturing design and workholding strategies, laser engraving procedures, wire EDM processes, GD&T and CMM inspection, and DED process development. He developed machining strategies and production processes that improved manufacturing efficiency and enabled reliable lights-out machining.

Dr. Hale’s areas of expertise include additive manufacturing, advanced machining, CAD/CAM/CAE, process optimization, digital engineering tools, engineering education, and design for manufacturing.

Dr. Hale is a Professional Engineer (Ontario)
