Six McMaster Engineering students and one graduate share what the Iron Ring means to them and why they selected their family member as a presenter. 

Three Faculty of Engineering‑affiliated employers were among the honourees recognized for their exceptional commitment to student learning and mentorship at the McMaster University Co-op & Internship Employer of the Year Awards.

For McMaster Engineering students, hosting FIRST Robotics isn’t just an event; it’s a homecoming.

During March Break, prospective students from across Ontario visited McMaster Engineering for a series of Day-in-the-life experiences. They explored programs, met with current students and gained firsthand insight into campus life to help guide their university decisions.

The annual Co-op Student of the Year Awards recognized and celebrated 13 outstanding co-op students whose workplace contributions and leadership highlight the impact of the experiential learning.

The MacSmiths forged the Astroknife, a blade inspired by those carried aboard NASA’s Apollo missions, and received second place at an international bladesmithing competition in San Diego.

As Spring prepares to receive her Iron Ring at the Calling of an Engineer ceremony on March 27, she is both honouring a familial chapter and beginning a new one in the nuclear sector that's distinctly her own.

After graduating from McMaster Engineering in 2021, Jesse Wang has built a career defined by adaptability, global experience and a willingness to take risks. Now a Product Design Engineer at Apple, he collaborates across teams to help bring future iPhone products to life. His journey highlights how hands-on learning, co-op and bold decision-making can shape unexpected opportunities.

High school robotics teams from across Ontario and the United States gathered for the FIRST Robotics Canada competition at McMaster. This competition showcased innovative robots while competing for recognition, scholarships and engineering opportunities.

At a year‑end celebration recognizing the achievements of Engineering's more than 70 clubs, teams and societies, those contributions took centre stage. The event highlighted how these student‑led groups help participants develop critical technical and transferable skills that strengthen their readiness for co‑op placements and careers beyond graduation.

When the McMaster Engineering Concrete Toboggan Team (MECTT) chose Inside Out — or, more specifically, Insled Out — as their theme for the 2026 competition season, they couldn’t have known how closely the themes of the film would mirror their experience. 

Federico Formica, a McMaster University PhD student with the Centre for Software Certification (McSCert), has earned a major international honour: the ACM SIGSOFT–SIGBED Frank Anger Memorial Award.
