BTech Automotive & Vehicle Engineering Technology, Level III (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil)

My favourite first year course was ENGTECH 1CP3. The reason it was my favourite course is because it was where I met my friends who to this day, I am still very close with. Back in first year, we used to have the best time going into that class, sitting together and joking around…definitely my favorite and most memorable first year course.

Favourite McMaster Engineering moment/memory?

My favorite McMaster Engineering memory has to be all of Welcome Week, specifically getting to know the people and the culture of McMaster students. Everyone is really happy and eager to help. An event that comes to mind when I think of Welcome Week is Faculty Fest - everyone together, learning new chants, singing and rooting for our mascots… It felt very wholesome and energizing! That is when I knew I made the right choice of coming to McMaster.

Why did you choose the McMaster BTech Automotive program?

I chose the McMaster B.Tech Automotive program because of the appeal of learning the engineering concepts and having lots of hands-on experience gotten through labs - besides being passionate about automotive vehicles - was a big “pro” for me. Together with all of this, being able to learn the concepts of Business Management was the tip of the iceberg. So having a lot of hands-on experience together with business concepts, enhances my entrepreneurial and leadership skill, which I find really valuable in today’s society.

Describe the various activities and extracurricular projects that you took on outside the classroom. What you have gained from this involvement?

Since I have joined McMaster, I have been part of 2 major extracurricular activities. One of them being the McMaster Engineering EcoCAR Team where I can apply my passion and knowledge about automotive engineering. In this team I have learned how to communicate better and work in a team efficiently. The other major club I have been part of is the Student Ambassador program where I can spend time getting to know and talking to prospective students. In this team I have learned how to get out of my comfort zone and improve on my ability to connect with others. I have learned a lot from those two teams, hence they have contributed to a big part of my identity at McMaster.

Favourite first year course and why?

My favourite first year course was ENGTECH 1CP3. The professor I had was really good at teaching and assisting when someone needed help, but this was not the reason it was my favourite subject. The reason it was my favourite course is because it was where I met my friends who to this day, I am still very close with. Back in first year, we used to have the best time going into that class, sitting together and joking around…definitely my favorite and most memorable first year course.

What advice would you share with a future student considering McMaster Engineering?

Advice I would give to a future student considering McMaster Engineering would be to not to be scared. From experience, I know that everything is new and intimidating. You might feel anxious a lot too, but if you ever need any help with anything, you can reach out to any Redsuits, ambassador, engineering student, the fireball family…every single group I listed, would not hesitate to help you with anything as well as get back on track.

What's something special and fun we should know about you?

My background is Indian, but I was born and raised in Brazil in a city that had Argentina five minutes away, hence I speak 5 languages. I am also a big foodie and love to cook and eat new dishes.
