Anthony Vu

Schulich Leader, Computer Science

What does it mean to be named a Schulich leader?

Becoming a Schulich Leader verifies that I have an outstanding community around me. My schools, Cathedral Catholic High School and Saint Patrick's Catholic Elementary School, my parish, Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, and my family have supported me so much that I could never pay them back.

What is your dream job?

Anything that allows me to support my family and community.

What made you choose McMaster Engineering?

The kind faculty and staff members (shoutout to Patricia Kousoulas).

What are you most passionate about outside of the classroom?

Volunteering. I have been an altar server for over a decade and plan to continue the streak.

Who is your role model?

Everyone, because they all have a unique story.

How have you stayed motivated during the pandemic?

"Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit." - Edwin Louis Cole

What are you looking forward to and/or are most nervous about working virtually this Fall?

Everything.

What three things would you take with you to a desert island?

A book (shoutout to Get Smarter by Seymour Schulich), an airplane, and a pilot.

What type of engineering stream are you most interested in pursuing and why?

I prefer a direct-entry program so I chose Computer Science. Also, the program is getting revamped this year which is a cherry on top.

And have you checked out some of the clubs and teams we have in Engineering? Any extracurriculars you are thinking of being part of?

Of course. All of the clubs and teams are amazing so I'm struggling to pick a few. I am definitely interested in technology clubs such as Competitive Programming and RoboMaster.
