Overall the main skills I gained from DECA were, public speaking skills, along with the ability to formulate a well thought out answer in the moment that it was asked.

Your DECA experience: "DECA allowed me to see the practicality of my studies in high school. I got to experience it both at regional and provincial levels. Overall the main skills I gained from DECA were, public speaking skills, along with the ability to formulate a well thought out answer in the moment that it was asked."

Why McMaster?: "The B.Tech. program offered at McMaster is unique in the approach that it takes to studies. I chose McMaster because I wanted to experience a program that I was interested in an environment that was more traditional."

How did DECA help prepare you for your university program?: DECA allowed me to see that it is possible to overcome many tasks if you take a few minutes to plan it out. Creating a plan for the task at hand also allows a person to overcome any challenges that might happen during the execution. It also showed how to manage my time. I was doing oral case studies and only had 10 minutes to understand the case at hand and plan out my approach to the given problem. This helps me out during tests in which I don't fully understand the question in the beginning. I am able to dissect the different components and requirements of the problem in a shorter amount of time."
