W Booth School Deepens Partnership with Westhill InnovationNovember 9, 2017

Industry-focused, experiential learning initiatives are central to the W Booth School value proposition. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce projects underway with Westhill Innovation Inc.

Headquartered in Simcoe Ontario, a small town located southwest of Hamilton, Westhill Innovation is a newly-formed company that designs and manufactures lightweight composite panels for truck trailers, building facades and other uses. It has a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and leverages close ties with several strategic partners, including the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute, Innovation Factory and the W Booth School.

Westhill is working with the W Booth School to explore high potential business opportunities related to composite materials, solar energy production and fabrication processes.

The Westhill projects align with our school’s strengths in product design, smart manufacturing and sustainability. The W Booth School faculty leads for these projects are Dr. Seshasai Srinivasan and Dr. Mostafa Soliman. Both have engaged three teams of graduate students with complementary talents in mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering. Together, they will work with Westhill to clearly scope the projects, define roles and responsibilities, and provide deliverables by August 2018.

“The objective is two-fold,” explains Salman Bawa, Community Engagement Coordinator with the W Booth School. “We must deliver measurable value to Westhill while ensuring our students gain practical experiences in leadership, innovation and initiative. This is our engagement model in a nutshell.”

A special thank you to Team Westhill — including Emil Radoslav, Gina Succi (McMaster University, Bachelor of Civil Engineering Graduate, Class of 1988) and Arash Jenab — for making this partnership possible. We look forward to helping your business innovate and grow.
