McMaster students, staff, graduates and faculty nominated for YWCA Hamilton’s Women of Distinction AwardsFebruary 21, 2019

Alyssia Jovellanos, Angela Pappin and Zobia Jawed from the Faculty of Engineering have been nominated for excellence in the field.

"I am humbled that I was nominated for this award and would like to thank my nominators and the Faculty of Engineering. This nomination means a lot to me because I feel that my efforts for female education and empowerment in the field of STEM were recognized. Currently, there is a gap in female representation and leadership roles in engineering fields. Therefore, we must provide more opportunities for females who must overcome multiple barriers throughout their careers. We must benefit from the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and broader perspectives of these strong females in order to advance our communities’ diversity, economic growth, and social well-being."

Zobia Jawed, graduate of Doctor of Philosophy, Fellowship and Faculty Lead for Engineering Design Projects in the W. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology and Sessional Faculty for the W. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology and Civil Engineering (Education and Mentorship)
