We work with businesses, organizations, and consultants seeking to re-skill and up-skill their employees and leaders to transition or scale their current operations, growth, and drive continuous improvement. Depending on the size and interests of organizations, the programs are suitable for professionals and managers/leaders from supervisors up to C-level.

Leading Transition (Online – Live)
Canada’s transition to a circular, climate positive economy depends on courageous leaders from business, government and civil society. New competencies and innovative models of leadership are needed to solve the world’s biggest transition issues – climate change, resource depletion, social and ecological justice, technology and artificial intelligence. You will learn through active assessment of you own leadership and organizational needs mapped against established leadership models to strategize, map, and communicate an effective transitional strategy.

This course will apply both an organizational development and personal leadership lens to explore the drivers of transition, opportunities to innovate and build competitiveness. You will be exposed to the information that will allow you to take the next steps in identifying circular economy opportunities for your organization. Although comprehensive, 3 days is not sufficient to cover all aspects of such a vast topic – as such, an online platform is available to all course participants to access before, during, and after the course completion with case studies, leadership examples, additional learning resources from other institutions, and practical tools that can be used within your organization.

The Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 – AMI4, professional certificate program is a different kind of learning program. AMI4 aims to deliver comprehensive, subject-focused courses in a 3-day, conference-style format. Each course is carefully developed and delivered by experts and people from the private and public sector working across various sectors in the AMI4 space.
By gaining foundational knowledge and applying it through case studies and practice exercises alongside talks from numerous leaders in the private and public sectors, participants are expected to take roles in leading and managing the transformation journey required to make their organization more efficient and competitive in the new digital age.

There are four courses being offered under the AMI4 program. Participants can pick and choose course of interest, or they can take all four. Courses are valued at $2000.00 + HST. Reduced pricing is available for partners and association members.

McMaster University in collaboration with The Strong Link have launched The Industry Operations Leadership and Management (IOLM) Professional Certificate Program. The IOLM Program is an adaptable, modular, practical, applied program aimed at managers and supervisors in industry.
An industry-first driven approach will enable candidates to learn directly from leaders in industry as well as academic instructors, to derive relevant, real-world insights and capabilities to drive transition and scale of their own industry business units.
This McMaster University Professional Certificate Program will inform, educate, mentor, and practically assess critical competencies needed to transform, sustain, and scale industry 4.0 operations.

Industry Operations Leadership Fundamentals

Tactical Planning & Execution

The TPE course will enable candidates with the first-hand knowledge needed to develop a high-performance industry team, and the competencies needed to execute efficiently within an industry operation.

IBUO
Industry Business Unit Operations

The IBUM course candidates will develop the operational competencies and industry-insights needed to maneuver, sustain, and efficiently execute and industry business unit (IBU).
Candidates will focus on understanding the anatomy of an IBU, supply chain management, the digitization of industry operations, key operational tools, project planning, change management, strategies to scale, as well as threat & disruption management. Candidates will be equipped to undertake and optimize Industry 4.0 Business Unit Operation.

Advanced Leadership Skills

The ALS course is designed to solidify and elevate the leadership skills needed to develop, deploy, and drive high-performance teams.
Candidates will focus on cultivating a high-performance team culture, performance & change management, coaching & mentorship, conflict management, stakeholder buy in communication skills, and instructional technique. Candidates will be equipped with the skills needed to drive a high-performance industry team culture.

Advanced Operations Skills

The AOM course will equip candidates with the competencies and strategies needed to scale industry 4.0 operations.
The course will focus on intent-based strategic execution, lean manufacturing techniques, sustainability, advanced project planning techniques, risk & financial management, cyber-security, forecasting & foreplanning, and auditing. Candidates will be able to assess, maneuver, and scale an industry business unit.

- Each course can be taken individually, and independently from each other to best train, equip, and develop your leadership team.

Sustainable Infrastructure: Low-Impact Development & Climate Resilience (Online – Live)
Adaptation to climate change requires the adoption of resilient, engineered green infrastructure to manage stormwater from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. This is of increasing importance for planners, designers, engineers, landscape architects, and construction professionals to ensure that the infrastructure designed today is adaptive to a changing climate.
What you will learn:
This immersive, conference-style Sustainable Infrastructure Program: Low-Impact Development and Climate Resilience, teaches the emerging approaches to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineered green infrastructure. In addition, the course focuses on design assessment, lifecycle costing, comparison to traditional stormwater infrastructure, inspection practices, and performance verification.

Sustainable Infrastructure: Design & Engineering (Online – Live)
Infrastructure refers to the broad set of systems that support our daily lives — from accessing reliable energy to accessing reliable communication; managing natural spaces to managing waste; moving people and goods to moving water — all of these systems support our society’s progress.
What you will learn:
This course teaches the emerging approach to infrastructure that considers both sustainability and climate resilience at every stage of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the integrated systems that support society. The course focuses on every aspect of infrastructure including best practices in building materials, energy, water management, waste management, stakeholder engagement and restorative design. You will learn the concepts, applications, and best engineering practices to create sustainable, climate resilient infrastructure solutions that enhance the social, environmental, and economic well-being of the communities they serve.

Certificates of Completion programs are designed by industry experts with deep practical knowledge of the subjects.
The Certificate of Completion program operates at McMaster University through the W Booth School of Engineering, Practice and Technology. Located in beautiful west Hamilton, McMaster’s main campus is bicycle and pedestrian friendly and easily accessed by municipal (HSR bus service) and GO Transit.
