Navigating the many logistics of your degree year-to-year can be made much easier with the help of Academic Advisors at McMaster Engineering.
These knowledgeable advisors can guide you through course selections, changes to your enrolment, McMaster Student Absence Form (MSAF), exams, taking courses at another university (for credit at McMaster), Petitions for Special Consideration, and much more.
Weekday drop-ins are available on a first come, first serve basis in JHE-H301 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can also make an appointment on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. by calling 905-525-9140 ext. 24646.

Paws n’ Play
What better way to relieve stress than playing with some adorable dogs? Paws n’ Play is a bi-weekly dog therapy program run by McMaster Engineering’s Academic Advising office for all students. Volunteers with trained dogs lend an hour of their day to put a smile on our students’ faces.

McMaster Engineering Society’s (MES) mentorship program matches first year students with upper-year mentors that share the same interests. Handling the transition to university can be difficult, but it’s helpful to have a friend who can answer questions, give advice, or simply talk to. There are also social events throughout the year where you can de-stress and meet new people!

McMaster Women in Engineering Society’s Mentorship Program
For female-identifying engineering students looking for an upper-year female mentor, the McMaster Women in Engineering Society has a mentorship program for you!
Mentors and mentees in the same stream of engineering are paired at the beginning of the year. They can connect through social media, meet up and attend social events throughout the year. Mentors are available to help you through academic and personal challenges and ease your transition into university.

The McMaster Student Success Centre offers a wide range of programs to support students academically, personally and professionally.

Mac’s Money Centre – Mac’s Money Centre has financial coaches that will guide you through budgeting, paying for school, doing your taxes and more!
International Students Buddy Program – The International Students Buddy Program pairs first year students with an upper-year student that can answer questions, give advice, and help with your transition to university in Canada.
The Student Wellness Centre also offers counselling and wellness programs for students.
Job Shadow Program – Explore different career options, make connections and get experience by taking part in a job shadow during reading week! You can apply for job shadow opportunities through OSCARplus.
Career Exploration – The Student Success Centre holds several workshops to help you discover a career that is right for you. You can also book a career counselling appointment to explore your interests, skill sets, and personality to make smart career choices.
