Khaled Chebaro has channelled his passion for solar and renewable energy into a career.
Working as a regional development manager for Yellow Door Energy (YDE), a leading solar developer for the industrial and commercial sectors in the Middle East and North Africa region, Chebaro is responsible for expanding the company’s client base.
“I am the first employee at Yellow Door Energy, and it is a rewarding experience to be part of such a fast-growing company,” he says. “Currently Yellow Door Energy is the market leader in commercial and industrial solar development in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.”
In 2010, after earning his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering & Management, Chebaro says he decided to allow his passion for renewable energy to dictate his career direction.
“Given global warming and climate change, solar energy is a must to safeguard our planet and future generations,” he says. “We need to be using clean and renewable forms of energy that reduce our dependence on more environmentally harmful fossil fuel sources such as oil and coal.”
Chebaro started in the energy sector with an electrical engineering internship with Siemens Canada. He then moved to Saudi Arabia, where he worked as a solar project engineer before transitioning into sales engineering positions with ABB.
In 2014, he moved to Dubai and began working with Yellow Door Energy.
“I advise today’s students to follow their passion and do what they love,” he says.
