Overview

Professor John Brash is a pioneer in the science and technology of biomaterials with emphasis on materials for use in blood contact. These are required for devices such as vascular grafts, coronary stents, and prosthetic heart valves. His main contributions have been in elucidation of the mechanisms of blood-surface interactions leading to coagulation, thrombosis, complement activation and other adverse effects. The behaviour of proteins at interfaces has been an important continuing emphasis. Collaborative research has been carried out with many different labs around the world, including in Canada, China, USA, Germany, France, Sweden and Australia.

Professor Brash is the author of over 300 publications including books, book chapters, papers in refereed journals and papers in refereed conference proceedings. He has been lead author/presenter or co-author on over 400 presentations at conferences and universities worldwide.
