Are you ready for a challenge?
Are you ready to showcase your talent and compete for a chance to win $6,000 in cash prizes? M-Factor is back, and we’re looking for the brightest Mac Eng students to rise to the challenge! Here’s everything you need to know to secure your spot in this one-of-a-kind competition.

What’s M-Factor?
M-Factor is a multi-challenge competition designed to elevate your communications, adaptability, teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills through immersive and challenging hands-on learning. Open to all Mac Eng undergraduates, this three-day event takes place from January 24 to January 26, 2025.

How it works
Throughout the three-day competition, you’ll face a series of elimination challenges that test your creativity and critical thinking. It’s an exciting way to engage with the world of management and forge lasting connections with fellow engineering students.
Note: Participants selected for the competition must be available on all event days on campus in the Engineering Technology Building (ETB) and the Information Technology Building (ITB).
- Friday, January 24
- Saturday, January 25
- Sunday, January 26
Prizes
The competition is fierce, and the rewards are even better. $6,000 in cash prizes are up for grabs:
“My experience in the M-Factor Competition was incredible. It combined intellectual and practical challenges that sparked creativity and encouraged out-of-the-box thinking. Winning the prize money was surreal, and it funded my engineering and innovation trip to Uganda. I highly encourage students to participate in the next competition.”
How to enter:
To join the competition, you must submit a video entry as part of the selection process. Follow the steps below to enter!
- Create a three-minute video presentation (via a shareable link) explaining a technical topic of your choice in a way that a non-technical audience can understand. Feel free to get creative—use PowerPoint, props or anything else that helps illustrate your point.
- Submit your video presentation along with the submission form below.
Important notes:
- Your video submission must be completed individually and not as part of a team.
- If you upload your video to YouTube, please make sure it is set to ‘Unlisted’. Setting the video as ‘unlisted’ means that anyone with the link to the video can view it, but it won’t appear in YouTube’s search results or in the Videos tab of the channel page

Submission period:
The entry period runs from November 30, 2024 to January 15, 2025, but don’t wait! We will close submissions once we’ve reached capacity, so apply early for your chance to compete.
Selected participants will be notified by email by January 21, 2025. Keep an eye on your inbox!
Good luck—and let the competition begin!
