Course Continuity Training - moving online

To assist you, our educators, in moving your courses to an online format to allow students to complete their term, the Fireball Academy is offering three one-hour workshops. The workshops will be recorded for future reference, but you are encouraged to attend so you can ask questions of the facilitator(s). Additional resources are (and will continue to be) uploaded to https://www.eng.mcmaster.ca/online-teaching-resources over the coming days. Please check back often.

These workshops will also be offered virtually via Microsoft Teams.  Please see the Fireball Academy email for instructions on how to join the Team.  If you plan to join virtually, please indicate that when registering and ensure that you have join the Team before Tuesday.

A) A Quick Start Guide for faculty (2:00 - 3:00pm) explaining how instructors can:      

  • Livestream a lecture with Webex Meetings or Zoom
  • Easily prerecord a video and share it with students with MacVideo (Kaltura)
  • Communicate and collaborative with students in an online learning space (Microsoft Teams)
  • Online Assessment options (Avenue to Learn)

B) Online learning spaces and tools (3:00 - 4:00pm) demonstrating other tools to use for creating and sharing content online:    

  • Echo360
  • SnagIt
  • Explain Everything
  • Xbox Game Bar

C) Assessments (4:00 - 5:00pm) demonstrating various online assessment options:

  • Avenue To Learn
  • Crowdmark
  • Microsoft Forms
