In a research-based graduate program, the relationship with your supervisor will be a huge influence on the success of your studies. Taking the time to find a supervisor who is doing research that you are passionate about is essential. With hundreds of faculty members within McMaster Engineering, we understand that it may be difficult to find a suitable supervisor. This form is our way of aiding you in the process and is the best point of initial contact.
Important note: You do not need a supervisor in order to apply to a graduate program, but you will need one to receive an offer of admission. You may apply to our graduate programs here.
McMaster engineering professors are involved in research Centres of Excellence, consult with industry and government, and contribute to internationally renowned institutes in all disciplines. Here is how you can begin your search for a supervisor:
- Explore McMaster Engineering’s research clusters
- Visit department websites and learn about current research projects that may be of interest to you
- Read faculty profiles and learn about their specializations
Once you have completed the above and identified a few select faculty members you may want to get in touch with, please fill out this form. Be sure to include pertinent information as to why you would be a good fit and how you could contribute to their current research. Please use 1 form per faculty member.
