Overview

Tom Lee has a unique blend of industrial and academic experience. His career in industry focused on the development and commercialization of highly advanced technologies in modern markets. As the Walter G. Booth Endowed Chair in Engineering Entrepreneurship & Innovation, he applies this blended experience in engineering technology and business to enhance academic activities at the Booth School and with McMaster’s broader Faculty of Engineering.

His technical interests include:

  • advanced mechatronics, robotics, and smart system applications
  • modern control system software and hardware platforms
  • engineering modeling and computation software
  • cryptographic protocols of modern information networks
  • applications of advanced technologies and methods in engineering education
  • broad interests in systems engineering, and engineering design

Tom’s interests outside of his formal professional life include sustainable residential systems applications, and STEM outreach for marginalized communities
