Associate Chair (Undergraduate)
Department of Chemical Engineering
Assistant Professor
Department of Chemical Engineering
ake Nease has been a member of the McMaster University community since 2006. As a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at McMaster, his research focused on the design, analysis, optimization and life-cycle assessments of bulk-scale solid-oxide fuel cell power plants with carbon capture.
Now, as a teaching-track faculty member with permanence and the undergraduate associate chair of the department, Jake directs his passion toward the development of the undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum, both through program refinement and the development of new and existing courses. Jake teaches a variety of process-system themed courses in the department, such as numerical methods, process design, optimization, and high-level modeling.
Currently, Jake’s research interests lie in the fields of pedagogy, especially around accessible course delivery, assessments, project-based learning, and curriculum design. He is a MacPherson Leadership in Teaching and Learning Fellow and has won the President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning.
