Join us for our McMaster campus-wide fall open houses on October 28th & November 18th to learn about our 4 Faculty of Engineering programs, explore our facilities and student spaces, and connect with MacEng students, faculty and staff!

Overview

McMaster Engineering’s Fall Preview is an excellent opportunity for prospective undergraduate students to learn about our world-class programs, see our beautiful campus, and speak with knowledgeable and friendly students, faculty and staff!

Take guided tours of our campus and state-of-the-art facilities and learn about our four programs: Bachelor of Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, and Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences.

Computer Science Info Session

Computer Science takes the theoretical and brings it to life in practical applications. It is a direct-entry four-year program where students learn programming, software design, systems and theoretical foundations.

Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences (iBioMed) Info Session

The iBioMed program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that will give students a strong foundation in both Engineering and Health Sciences. Students will have a common first year before choosing to specialize in either Engineering or Health Sciences and Entrepreneurship.

  • ETB B111 Industrial Systems Integration Lab | 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM
    • Industrial networks, workstation integration, and manufacturing plant integration.
  • ETB B107 Learning Factory | 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM
    • Additive manufacturing, materials handling, production monitoring, and machine condition monitoring, manufacturing floor and business end integration, product life cycle integration.
  • ETB 311 Biotechnology Lab | 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM
    • The Application of Biotechnology and Next-generation Biomanufacturing. Demonstrations include vaccine production via bioreactor culture, Bacterial system in producing therapeutic biopharmaceuticals, 3D cancer cell spheroid and tissue engineering, biosensor development for disease diagnosis.
  • JHE 220 Water Lab | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Environmental Systems Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering is designed for a variety of water analyses. The laboratory has both bench- and pilot-scale unit processes for water and wastewater treatment and is equipped for a range of wet chemistry analyses.
  • ABB C104 iBioMed Design Studio | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Talk to our lab techs, current students and faculty and learn about the projects conducted at the Genetic Engineering Lab, Design Studio, Medical Imaging & Biomaterials Lab and Medical Instrumentation/Robotics Lab.
      • Also recommended for students interested in Engineering 1
  • ABB B161 Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy | 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

    • CCEM houses a best-in-class suite of electron and ion microscopes; unique in Canada with only a handful of facilities like it around the world. Through CCEM’s instruments and expert staff members, material characterization can be performed on a wide range of applications allowing researchers to look at their materials in detail from the mm down to single atoms.
  • MARC (McMaster Automotive Research Centre) – nearby off-campus location
    • A bus will be able to take you there for a tour following our BTech info sessions.
    • MARC 155A – Automotive Lab
      • This laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art experimental learning resources in the fields of thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanical vibration, fluid mechanics, combustion engineering, as well as hybrid and electric vehicle dynamics.
    • MARC 155B – Manufacturing Lab
      • This laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge facilities for additive manufacturing and machining, along with various manufacturing equipment tailored for the capstone design and manufacturing course.
    • MARC 269 – PACE Computer Lab
      • The computer laboratory features high-performance computers equipped with industrial software and also autonomous vehicle instrumentation.
