Executive Officer

The role of Equity and Inclusion Champion was introduced in 2018 on various departmental committees and on all Faculty committees to help embed a culture of equity and inclusion within the Faculty of Engineering through participation on Faculty and departmental committees.

In addition to this training session, Equity & Inclusion Champions are also encouraged to attend workshops offered through the Equity and Inclusion Office, particularly the H.E.A.R.T. program offered each year, to help prepare them for this role.  A list of events and workshops can be found at:   The Fireball Academy will also offer a mid-year check-in in January 2022 and a debrief session in May 2022 as you begin to prepare your annual reports from the 2021-2022 academic year.

The Equity and Inclusion Champion is expected to raise questions of equity and inclusion as they pertain to the work of this committee and provide feedback annually to the Dean’s Office based on the notes below:

  1. Please share a success story from your role (e.g. new topics raised/addressed).
  2. Please share a challenge encountered.
  3. What recommendations do you have for the committee and/or E&I Champion for next year?
  4. What actions are needed to solve relevant equity and inclusion issues that must be addressed at a higher level (e.g. faculty or university)?
