Faculty and students come together to share their big ideas for a chance to win!

Overview

The Faculty of Engineering is hosting a Big Ideas Pitch Week from Oct 2nd– 4th 2018.

Pitch Week is inspired by the Three Minute Thesis Program (3MT®), which is founded by Queensland University, Australia.

To kick things off, we are holding a student Three Minute Thesis-inspired pitch competition on October 2nd at CIBC Hall from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. Selected Undergraduate and Graduate students will pitch their ideas during two back to back competitions on October 2nd.

Students are competing for a cash prize and a chance to pitch their winning ideas at the Faculty’s Pitch Night on Oct 4th. The Oct 4th event will be headlined by a faculty member Pitch Competition for the Seeding Big Ideas Research Competition, which will award six research interdisciplinary teams with $100k seed funding for a project that will demonstrate long term impact.

Undergraduate Competition: is inspired by 3MT but will not follow the parameters directly. The pitch will focus on a Big Idea that will benefit society. Whether it is an engineering innovation to battle climate change, or a mobile app that will improve diversity in engineering, creativity is encouraged!

Graduate Competition: is research-focused, and will conform to the Three Minute Thesis parameters.

Seeding Big Ideas Research Competition: is inspired by 3MT but will not follow the parameters directly. Six research interdisciplinary teams will be awarded with $100k seed funding for a project that will demonstrate long term impact.
