Life After Eng Phys: A Career in Industrial IoT

Ash Beigi will discuss his career as a sales engineer for a large engineering technology company, deploying solutions for scientific instrumentation and the industrial Internet-of-Things. The presentation includes a high-level overview of one application that ties in many emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, accelerometers, and communication technologies - "Condition Monitoring". Condition Monitoring is the use of industrial electronics to predict and prevent the catastrophic failure of high-capital mechanical assets such as turbines and bridges. The overview will discuss first principles, component technologies, the process implications, and the value of the application.

Ash Beigi, P.Eng., is currently an MBA candidate at the Schulich School of Business. Prior to pursuing his MBA, Ash's career was focused on the business development of high-tech platform solutions for high-performance instrumentation, real-time control, and industrial IoT. He has deployed solutions into a wide range of industries including oil & gas, energy, agriculture, aerospace, consumer electronics, and mining. Ash has served as a Product Marketing Engineer, Account Manager, Field Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Representative, and Operations Engineering Intern. Ash has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics & Management (2010) from McMaster University.
