Fabrication of low-loss silicon waveguides using the LOCOS process.

Event Poster

As the world demands faster and more information, and as the electronics transfer of data has been pushed to its limit. A new solution has been proposed which is silicon photonics. Silicon photonics research can be dated back to the 1980s. However, the previous decade has shown an explosive growth in the field. Silicon photonics could potentially boost a few applications which include data centers, sensing and high performance computing.

This seminar will explore the fabrication of a low loss waveguide system via existing CMOS fabrication techniques.
