Volunteer Opportunities

October

Engineering & Science Olympics - this event is where Ontario High School teams come to McMaster and compete in various activities;  any ECE Undergrad student is welcome to assist run the ECE event/activity "Egg High Drop"; volunteers are also needed for the general running of the day's event; this is a full day, weekday event; volunteers are needed for either a 1 or 2 hour shift.

November

Fall Preview:  Highschool students and their families are invited to campus to learn more about the degrees offered here.  The Faculty of Engineering showcases all departments in the JHE Lobby on 2 Saturdays each Fall (one usually late October, the other in mid November).  Two or three faculty members and two or three current students work 2-3 hour shifts, greeting prospective students and providing them with information about our programs.

 

February

Level One Information Fair - all Engineering departments are represented at booths with the goal to inform Level 1 students of their program choices; usually held in ETB; held on a weekday; mainly represented by faculty members, a few upper level students are needed to provide information, working a 1 or 2 hour shift.

March

ECE Department Information Session - for Level 1 students to come find out about our programs and department; current ECE Undergrad students are needed to provide information enthusiastically to prospective students; department clubs and teams are also represented to show prospective students the non-academic side of ECE; held one evening in March or early February.

May

May @ Mac - McMaster University Open House - this exciting event draws thousands of prospective students and their families to campus to find out more about McMaster itself and what we offer; held on a Saturday in early May each year; faculty members and student groups and current ECE students represent the department; we need students to work a shift of at least 2 hours (lunch and refreshments are provided).
