Overview

What is the rationale for inititives aimed at briedging equity gaps in higher education? This talk explores the value of equity, diversity, and inclusion not only for equity-deserving groups but also in relation to instituional mandated of building a "brighter world" for everyone. Equity and inclusion do not undermine merit and excellence. On the contrary, equitable and inclusive policies and practices stengthen institutional excellence. 

Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh is currently the Vice-Provost (Intenrational) at McMaster and has more than 30 years of teaching and reseach experience in the fields fo Global Human Rights, Legal History, and Peace/Conflict Studies in Europe, Africa, and North America. He has led or collaborated in 15 successful research grants totalling more than $10 million. He also serves as Chair of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights to Development, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
