McMaster Engineering provides many programs and activities geared to the interests and abilities of elementary and high school students. These programs introduce students to the engineering profession and allow them to advance their skills and knowledge in this area. They also provide students with a chance to make friends and have fun.

We are offering a new opportunity for girls called Go CODE Girl that provides an exciting free opportunity for girls in grades 7 to 10 to learn how to program, all across Ontario!

The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair is a competition to all grade seven through twelve students from Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Brant County and Six Nations.

Learning Enrichment Advancement Program

LEAP is an intensive summer program offered in July and August to high-school students who have a strong academic record and who excel in science or engineering. The program combines lectures, design projects,  laboratory experiments, industry tours, and extracurricular events.

Venture is a summer day camp for students in grades 1 through 8. Activities are designed to blend engineering, science, computers and technology with hands-on experience and creative opportunities. 

FIRST Robotics

First @ Mac

McMaster University is host to one of Canada’s premier science, technology and engineering competitions for high school-aged students

The district competition is one of several in a series of successive events FIRST Robotics runs in Ontario. Teams must compete in at least two district events where they accumulate points. The top 60 teams in Ontario will be invited to compete at the District Championship at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. The winners of that event go on to represent Ontario in a FIRST Championship Event.

Venture and LEAP put on an hour-long presentation/ show for the participants and visiting schools at the BASEF Science Fair conducted at Mohawk College, with a total of over 1000 students. A Venture and LEAP camp bursary was also awarded to deserving participants for innovative projects.

One of our biggest initiatives are girls only events. These events take place during different parts of the year and reach a wide range of ages. All programming is free, and offer a diverse set of challenges and opportunities for girls to experience

As we work together with the surrounding communities, we help to build confidence and inspire Indigenous students to become excited about engineering and science. Recently we have been able to reach many schools and students through youth programs and school workshops, our yearly STEM conference and summer program.
