McMaster Civil Engineering Graduate Student and Professors receive Best Conference Paper Award at the Canadian Transportation Research ForumJune 11, 2021

Congratulations to Roxana Rasouli, Moataz Mohamed, and Saiedeh Razavi for being awarded the Ron Rice Award for the Best Conference paper presented at the 56th Canadian Transportation Research Forum.

The paper titled “Costs and Benefits of Shared Mobility in a Suburban Context: The Impact of Powertrain Technology” is part of Rasouli’s MSc research. It aims to support the decision-making process of implementing shared mobility in suburban contexts.

“Transportation of goods and people has gone through rapid changes in business models, consumer behaviour, policy, and technology. This study helps the analysis of costs and benefits, and feasibility of electric and shared mobility to address the transportation needs of current and future populations in suburban areas,” said Saiedeh Razavi, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering and Director of the McMaster Institute for Transportation & Logistics.

“On-demand service is gaining significant market share in urban contexts. Our study sheds light on the benefits (e.g., mobility, cost, and emissions) of shared mobility in suburban and rural communities.” Said Moataz Mohamed, Assistant Professor of Smart Systems and Transportation, Civil Engineering.
