This is an evening, themed around “Big Ideas” in honour of 60 years of Engineering Excellence. The accomplishments of the Faculty of Engineering award recipients will be celebrated along with Top 150+ Engineering Alumni. (Learn more about our Big Ideas campaign and our Big Ideas contest.)
McMaster Engineering has much to celebrate. We have a rich history of research that addresses the grand challenges facing Canada and the world, including climate change, renewable energy, digital transformation and health care. Since its founding by Dr. John W. Hodgins, McMaster Engineering has been committed to leading research and world-class education with a social conscience.
We continue to evolve how we educate students. We inspire engaged citizen scholars and alumni who are a force for positive change around the globe. In 2017, we opened the Gerald Hatch Centre for Engineering Experiential Learning and a new Makerspace in Thode Library to foster growth outside the classroom. In 2018, a new tower devoted to engineering innovation is slated to open.
Our reputation continues to grow. ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017 ranked civil engineering among the top 30 programs in the world, and three programs (metallurgical engineering, computer science and engineering, and transportation science and engineering) among the top 75 in their areas.
As one of the world’s Top 100 universities, McMaster Engineering’s leading faculty members and exceptional students are excited to celebrate this key milestone in our history. We hope you can join us for this signature Diamond Jubilee event.
