hill

McMaster is also known for the "Us vs. Hill" tally chart, which contains a count of whether the toboggan made it down the hill safely, or if the hill won the battle. In 2005, the tally chart started off as a large piece of cardboard, thought of by the MECTT members to encourage the other teams throughout the race day. It evolved in 2006 to a large banner.  In 2007 and 2008 a massive plywood tally board was constructed and different symbols were drawn for some of the more unique crashes.  Who knows what will come of the chart in 2009!!

2010 "Us Vs. Hill" chart

The McMaster Engineering Concrete Toboggan Team started in 1992, and has been getting stronger every year since. Starting with a team of only 18 dedicated members, the team has now grown to well over 100.

Throughout the 15 years that McMaster has been a competing team, the competition has been in Montreal for 3 years, Sherbrooke, Winnipeg for 3, Ottawa for 2, Calgary for 2, Waterloo, Regina, Kingston, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

McMaster has had a large impact on every single school that has participated in the competition. We have won the best team spirit award many years, proving our constant enthusiasm. We also have one distinctive cheer that is known across Canada by every participating university. Olay!

2006 "Us VS. Hill" chart

In 2006, McMaster was the first ever recipient of the fastest toboggan on a curved track. This was quite the accomplishment and will forever go down in Concrete Toboggan history. In previous years, the toboggan only had to go straight down the hill. In order to change things up, the GNCTR crew added on the curved track as an optional course. With a custom designed steering mechanism, we were able to ride our way to the top!  At the 2007 race in Winnipeg, McMaster’s toboggan was deemed the “World’s Fastest Concrete Toboggan” clocking in at a breakneck 69.3 km/hr!!
