GNCTR is the largest and longest running national engineering
competition in Canada. It challenges students to design and construct
toboggans with a running surface made entirely of concrete.
The sleigh must meet a weight limit, have a functioning brake, and a roll
cage to protect its occupants. Judges evaluate the competitors based on
the technical aspects of their designs as well as performance in several
categories on Race Day. In addition to innovative designs and technical
savvy, students bring costumes, singing, camaraderie, and friendly competition
that have become a staple of GNCTR.
