MacEng Speed Eater Sets Latke Record

Fourth-year mechanical engineering student Peter Czerwinski has set another food eating record. This time he downed 46 potato latkes in eight minutes at the U.S. National Latke Eating Championship in Lake Grove, NY on December 20, 2008, the first day of Hanukkah.

"Furious Pete" literally peeled by the 10 other contestants. The 6-foot-2, 228 pound body builder finished ahead of Will Millender, a 380-pound Brooklyn community college student, who came in second with 29 latkes. The previous record was 31 latkes set in 2006.
