Call for Art with Engineering Connection
September 16, 2009
As part of the celebrations surrounding the new Engineering Technology Building at McMaster University, the engineering alumni office is organizing an art exhibit. The theme, you guessed it, is “Engineering as Art: Through Your Eyes.”
Organizers are now collecting pieces for the exhibit and welcome everyone to contribute. The main criterion for selecting artistic pieces for display is that they have an engineering connection. The aim is to showcase the many artistic ways in which engineering filters into the community and helps to shape our society.
An artistic piece could be the creation by an engineer, for example, or
a family member of an engineer. It could be a piece connected with
the Faculty of Engineering or part of an alumnus’ collection. It
could be a piece of engineering art or art showcasing an engineering achievement. It’s
a chance to tell your personal story and to showcase artistic talent in
the community.

The deadline to submit art for consideration is September 30. Details can be found here »
Art will go on exhibit Saturday, October 24 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the new Engineering Technology Building. It is being held in conjunction with Homecoming at McMaster and activities surrounding the new building.
Organizers are also open to accepting art for a silent auction. Funds raised will go toward the Living Legacy Project, a collection of Faculty of Engineering memorabilia collected and donated over the past 50 plus years.
