We inspire our students to become engaged citizen scholars who will transform the world.

Challenges of the 21st century will demand more than just technical expertise.  The complex problems facing the world will require people who are creative and can think critically, form strong collaborative relationships, and who are skilled communicators.  In McMaster Engineering, we are working to help our students develop the skills they will need for success in the 21st century.

McMaster Engineering was a pioneer in experiential learning and in bringing problem-based learning to engineering education and we continue to be at the vanguard of innovation in experiential learning.  Our goals:  to facilitate student-based learning, to support skill development in problem solving, and to support students in team work and leadership development.

The Gerald Hatch Center for Engineering Experiential Learning will serve as the central hub for student-focused experiential learning initiatives.  The Hatch Centre will offer space for transformative learning experiences where students can actively take charge of their education and career and professional development:  our students will be hands-on and minds-on, developing their skills and competencies as future leaders in engineering, entrepreneurship and innovation.
