Entrepreneurship Stream
The Engineering and Management program at McMaster University introduced a new optional “stream” in the Fall of 2011. The “Entrepreneurship Stream” leverages McMaster’s highly successful Masters of Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEEI) graduate program. Undergraduates will have the opportunity to test the feasibility of new business start-up ideas while they are introduced to the concepts and tools used for new business creation.
For students who aspire to develop their own technology-based business ideas, the Entrepreneurial Stream offers an invaluable opportunity to gain exposure to new business start-up practice and mentorship. Pursuing this stream will give students the ability to pursue an accelerated degree in the Masters of Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEEI).
In the Entrepreneurship Stream, undergraduate students will experience a “learn by doing” approach to the development of their entrepreneurship skills. They will be driving the creation of new businesses, using an industry proven new business creation process, while they learn. Courses in the program will use a “just in time” format for the introduction of new concepts and tools so that the students can apply this knowledge as they need it. A key part of the learning experience will come from interaction with experienced mentors in the business and technical communities, as well as interaction with the graduate students and advisors in the MEEI program.
