Accelerated MBA and Other Post-Graduate Programs After Engineering & Management
The engineering and management degree positions graduates well to take post- graduate degrees in a number of fields with little or no make-up work to be done. Although most who do go on take an MBA or an advanced degree in engineering, some get their second degrees in medicine, law or science. The amount of make-up work, if any, depends upon the requirements of the advanced degree and the courses taken in the engineering and management program. Ever larger numbers of people are going on for advanced degrees as the pace of competition quickens. Engineering and management prepares its graduates well for success in this arena.
MBA (Accelerated)
Having an MBA and an engineering degree is a very desirable combination that will open many opportunities to you. In recent years the MBA has become a necessary prerequisite to entering the higher levels of management, and an engineering degree provides the technical background so essential for many of today’s best job opportunities. The financial sector (Bay Street and Wall Street) also has a strong interest in engineers with MBAs for their combination of quantitative analytical savvy and business knowledge.
The Engineering and Management Program at McMaster positions you very favourably for entry to MBA programs with advanced standing. The 15 Commerce and Economics courses included in the Engineering and Management Program are deemed equivalent to first year MBA courses by a number of very good universities which will therefore give advanced standing in their MBA programs.
An ACCELERATED MBA which can be completed in 8 months (full-time) is offered by McMaster’s DeGroote School of Business to graduates of the Engineering and Management Program who qualify. This allows you direct access to advanced MBA courses in your area of interest and/or specialization. Those who take the program part-time can usually finish in two years. All MBA programs have minimum mark requirements for entry.
