Dr. Gilles Patry speaking on the Future of Engineering Education

It has been said that engineering in this country is an invisible profession. This is mainly because most Canadians have only a vague and limited idea of what we do. As a result, our national consciousness is not aware of the role engineers play in society. The presentation will focus on some of the challenges facing the engineering profession in Canada as well as the many opportunities it has to offer, including:

  • the need for engineers to play a more active role in shaping public policies;
  • the need to attract and retain more women in the
    profession; and
  • the need to “re-engineer” engineering education and re-examine the accreditation process.

Reception to follow.
