OSCARplus
How is OSCARplus different?
The new OSCARplus system is different than the "old OSCAR". Mainly, it has a direct link to information held in the Registrar's office. Everytime you login, the system automatically updates your academic profile (excluding grades).
If you have enrolled in the Co-op program, you should see a tab that says Internships & Co-op. This landing page will let you know that you have registered for Co-op and will provide information on the co-op admission process.
The admissions process includes:
- Signing a registration form (when you join) and,
- Completing the 1EE0/1ET0 class.
- registered as full-time student,
- in good academic standing (not on probation) and
- if you are an international student, you must have a valid work permit.
To remain admitted you must be:
Once you have completed the admissions process, you will have access to the whole Co-op module, which includes job postings, interview schedules and rank/match criteria.
What is a Co-op Sequence?
Your co-op sequence shows the usual cycle of Study and Work terms that you will follow while in the co-op program. Once you are fully admitted to the co-op program, you will be assigned a sequence based on your program and the year you entered Level 1. You can view your personal Co-op sequence when you click on the Internships & Co-op tab in OSCARplus - it will be at the bottom of the page.
The sequence allows you to view jobs during your eligible time-frames. For example, jobs posted for the January 2012 term can only be viewed by students whose sequence has January 2012 set as a Work term. Please refer to the general sequences for your program.
Important! If your sequence does not follow what you consider to be your work term options, please contact the ECCS office.
OSCARPlus Troubleshooting Guide
| Getting an Error Message/Invalid Password when I try to log in | Try a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Be sure to login from the OSCARplus homepage (www.oscarplusmcmaster.ca) |
|---|---|
| Internship/Co-op jobs not visible | You must be registered in Co-op and have completed the course to view jobs. There may be no jobs posted for the Work term you are eligible for. If your sequence does not allow you to view jobs for the next term, you will not view jobs ie. jobs posted for Jan 2012 can only be viewed by students whose sequence has Jan 2012 set as a work term.
|
| I get a message that says I don't have the correct sequence to view jobs | Jobs are posted by academic term ie. Fall 2011, Winter 2012 etc. You will only see jobs that you are eligible to apply for. Please refer to your the Co-op sequence in your profile. |
| My Co-op profile info and/or Sequence is incorrect | When you join Co-op, the ECCS office assigns you a program and sequence. If these change because you switched programs or took time off school, please come to the ECCS office to update. |
| I am in Co-op but I get a message on the Co-op tab that I am not registered. | Please come to the ECCS office and we will rectify this for you. |
| When I tried to apply for a job, there was no submit button. | You must have documents & packages saved in the appropriate module before you can apply to the job. Be sure you have documents saved in the Internships & Co-op module to apply for co-op jobs. |
| When I check my packages, my documents were distorted. | Save your documents as pdf before you upload them. Always check your created packages for formatting. Upload doc or docx files, with no tabs and use Arial 12.
|
| I could not upload my pdf file - the page just keeps loading. | Try removing the file extension (.pdf) from your documents. The system can recognize pdf, doc or docx files and will add the file extension when it uploads your documents. |
| I could not upload my documents - I get a message that says incorrect filename. | Ensure that the documents you are uploading have correct file names without spaces or symbols. For example: Co-op Resume -Incorrect Coop_Resume - Correct |
