I was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada and raised with my three wonderful brothers on the outskirts
of the "Festival" city. I graduated from St. Michael's Catholic Secondary School in 1996 and soon
found my place at McMaster University, enrolled in civil engineering. I currently have one year
remaining in my four year bachelors degree and after that, I have not decided what I am going to do.
My interests within civil engineering lie heavily within an environmental context -
hence my interest in this project. As I am nearing the end of my degree, I am leaning
toward doing a Masters degree in renewable energy - the University of California appears
to have a very interesting program.
Outside of engineering, I enjoy running, biking, rollerblading, basketball, volleyball,
and baseball. I have been a Highland dance teacher for approximately four years, however,
I am not currently taking on any students, as school occupies the majority of my time.
As to where I will be in the next several years, I can not say. Ideally, I would like
to travel around the world for a while, or perhaps continue my education, or possibly begin
a career - now that's a scary thought. For the time being, I will enjoy my remaining time
at McMaster and continue thinking about the possibilities of tomorrow.

I am from Guelph, Ontario and am currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering & Society program at McMaster University.
I have completed three of the five years needed for a bachelors degree. This website has been developed as part of a
two month summer research project into sustainable buildings. I received an NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering
Research Council) Undergraduate Summer Research Award under the supervision of Dr. Brian Baetz.
My interests within civil engineering are strongly towards environmental issues and particularly preventative
measures. Other academic interests of mine include public policy and politics, and economics. I am interested in
pursuing public policy and environmental issues after my undergraduate education via law school.
Some of my other activities within school have been involvement in residence activities and engineering society
activities on executive positions. I have also worked the last couple of years with the Shad Valley program as a
Program Assistant at the McMaster Shad Valley Program.
Outside of school I enjoy playing most sports, although basketball and running are strong favourites. I have also
recently found a new enjoyment in reading about social and economic issues such as world trade, third world development,
and technology and society.
